Portuguese lessons for children and families
Have you moved to Portugal with your family? I teach children and parents online, alongside school. For children in PLNM classes (Portuguese as a non-native language), the lessons focus on speaking and understanding, so they can follow at school and make friends more easily. Explanations in Dutch, English, French or Spanish.

How long does each level of Portuguese take?
The Council of Europe gives an estimate of the study hours needed for each level of the Common European Framework (CEFR). What 10 hours give you depends on where you start. For example:
Starting from zero: a 10-hour pack covers the basics. You learn to introduce yourself, ask and understand simple questions, and use your first practical vocabulary.
Already at B1 or B2: you run a business in Portugal and want to communicate with ease. A 10-hour pack gives you the confidence and the vocabulary you need, with expressions for social situations and for business.
After a pack, you can go on with another 10 hours, and another, at your own pace.

About your teacher
Olá, I'm Elsa, Portuguese teacher and translator with more than 30 years of experience, based in Veldhoven, the Netherlands.
I'm a certified teacher of European Portuguese. I was director of the Centro de Língua Portuguesa in Goa, India, and taught Portuguese at the European institutions in Brussels. Today I teach at the Volksuniversiteit Regio Eindhoven and I'm a jury member for the Dutch-Portuguese interpreter selection.
I split my time between the Netherlands and the Cadaval area, north of Lisbon. The Portuguese you learn with me is the Portuguese people speak in Portugal today: European Portuguese, not Brazilian.
I explain grammar in Dutch, English, French or Spanish, whichever works best for you.
